We are all used to the notion of white cube galleries, with their white walls and parquay flooring designed to let the art stand out and have a greater effect, but what happens when the exhibiton space is not so simple? What happens if the exhibition space itself becomes more interesting than the object?
I am interested in the whole notion of context, the idea that meaning and effect can change through different environments.

My dissertation is on the north south divide which in it’s simplest form is to do with perception, the perception that an object (person) can be different depending on their environment, which is essentially what my response to this module is all about.
Collaborate with furniture student to design simple flat pack 3d structure that will be transported to and assembeled in various locations with an idea to taking in the venues in different light/weather conditions
The focus here is on unique ways of SHOWing the EXHIBIT, in turn EXHIBITING the space around it.

Needs to be flat packed into a Holdall. Made out of light weight material with limited/no fixtures, needs to be super fast in both assembly and disassembly.
Final exhibition piece would be the wooden piece itself in front of the images in it’s various scenarios which will be in black frames.
Taking the notion of a blank gallery and fascinating object and flipping it to have a simple structure show off the landscape it is situated.
It is a technique that has become increasingly popular in design circles where an interesting photograph is overlayed with a simple shape – usually a circle which is then used to house text, thus making the body of text itself appear more interesting.
Using the object as a means of continuity.
