So it's my first day back proper and today we had the pleasure of accompanying Steve and his 3D course to York's National Railway museum. A Place I have visited many times in my youth and though never owning an anorak and a pair of binoculars, have found it fascinating on each visit.
But this time the context is different, I am no longer a cub scout on a summer outing, here i am as a 20 year old looking at the museum for it's artistic merit.
Whilst not completley sure of what exactly the motive behind the visit was and what it had to do with our course, I decided that I was here for a reason and that I would keep the title of our new brief - Exhibit/Show in mind and look at how these elements have been portrayed within the museum.
Set over a vast warehouse housing over 100 locamotives and various other interesting artifacts the asthetics of the exhibits change according to the pieces on show, for example the 'Royal Train' exhibit hosting vehicles travelled upon by Queens Victoria and Elizabeth, is complemented by royal china and cutlery and set off by a regal red carpet, shown on the right.
